Imagine the Difference You Could Make
Can you imagine coming home at the end of a long day, only to realize there is nowhere to sit? Imagine tucking your children into bed, but that "bed" is a cold, hard floor.
Can you imagine the heartbreak of a parent who has to tell their child they can't have a bicycle like the other kids, because the choice is between a bike and a grocery bill? What about telling your children there just isn't enough food in the hamper from local resources to feed you all this week?
Can you imagine the heavy silence of a Christmas morning where there are no gifts under the tree, and no festive meal on the table? Imagine a child watching their peers sharing stories of Easter treats and family dinners, while their own table remains empty. Imagine the quiet heartache of a parent who wants to create magic for their children, but is struggling just to keep the lights on.
This is the reality for many families in Edmonton everyday.
While local resources exist, the gap between surviving and thriving is often wider than a single hamper can fill. At Hearts Centre, we believe no one should have to imagine a life without basic dignity. We go beyond the basics to provide the foundation for a fresh start—whether it’s a kitchen table for family meals, warm winter gear for a long commute, or emergency food and clothing when life takes an unexpected turn.
By providing toys for children and magic for the holidays, we aren't just giving things; we are restoring hope and providing the stability families need to finally get back on their feet.

From Bridging the Gap to Building a Future
At Hearts, our mission is to stand in the gap when life’s challenges feel insurmountable. Eight years ago, we met a courageous mother- Jenny F. who had just arrived in Canada. Navigating a new country is never easy, but she was also grieving the loss of her husband while pregnant with her sixth child.
When she reached out, she wasn't just looking for items—she was looking for a way to provide stability for her children during a time of immense transition. We were honored to step in and help her family get back on their feet by providing:

Essential Clothing: Ensuring all six children were prepared for every season.

Housewares: Providing the basic tools needed to turn a new house into a functional home.

Bikes: Giving the children the gift of mobility, play, and a sense of normalcy.
That support was the bridge that led to the inspiring reality we see today. Having watched her children grow up into incredible individuals, this "amazing mom" is now a Hearts Sponsor. Her journey has come full circle—from receiving the hand up she needed, to now reaching back to help others in our community.
